Spares Scheme News:
Additions to the Standard Motor
Club's Spares Scheme - Two additional Spares Officers.
Following a recent committee
meeting, we are pleased to announce a major extension to the
Spares Service that the Club offers to it's members. Your
committee appreciates that there is negligible support for
Standards from the commercial Motor Trade and we therefore need to
take new steps to support members in keeping their cars on the
Road.
This new initiative will take the
form of a substantial input of money and resources to improve the
spares service. With all the clubs spares now sorted, we are aware
of what we have and what items are missing from the existing
stock, for the first time. Our objective will be to backfill the
stores with in-demand items that are not currently available.
To do this, we have appointed 2
additional spares officers with new roles. These roles are
described here:
Spares Sourcing Co-ordinator:
This first officer has the role
of searching out sources of difficult to find spares arising out
of requests from the 4 existing spares officers.
Spares Re-manufacturing Officer:
This second post has the role of
commissioning the re-manufacturing of parts if we are no longer
able to source new old stock.
The two new officers will work
closely together.
It should be noted that these new
posts are "back-office" positions. They will liase with
the 4 existing officers to identify the parts in demand and
satisfy that demand by one of the two routes. The new Spares
Officers will have direct access to the Treasurer for the funding
required and the batches of spares procured by this method will be
added to the existing warehouse stock. Members please should
therefore continue to make their requests for parts to the
EXISTING SPARES OFFICERS, NOT the new ones.
The Spares Sourcing Co-ordinator is
Brian Parkes, who has been co-opted onto the committee. The
Remanufacturing Officer is Paul Newsome, who is already a
committee member. Welcome to you both

Scheme is shown diagrammatically below.
