The Club will be represented at all the following events, which we have tried to arrange as geographically separate as possible. In this way, we hope that the maximum number of people will find an event not too far away from them. Please call the club's organiser shown to arrange passes rather than just turn up on the day. If you want to organise a club presence at any further shows, this is most welcome, but please let me know so that this page can be updated and thus more potential attendees notified.

Please note that the Club's organiser is just that - the organiser of this club's presence - not the overall event organiser.

NOTE: This page is available to you, the  Club Members to advise the rest of the membership of events that they are attending or organising, please make use of it. This list is compiled by Phil Homer.  Please call on 01727 868405 or email me: webmaster@standardmotorclub.org.uk  with any amendments, new events and detailed information for publication.

Malvern Spring Show - Sunday 13 April 2008

There are sadly no 2 day events at Malvern this year. I am however organising outdoor club stands for this one day show and invite people to book sending me their full name, address, telephone nos. and car details though this can be flexible so long as the car is a Standard or derivative. There is a charge of £2.50 per car allowing entry for 2 adults and unlimited children and when booking I would request a cheque payable to the Standard Motor Club of £2.50 per car and a SAE.

Deadline for booking onto the Club stand 14th March 2008.

Please send details to me at the address in the Club magazine
Peter Lockley,
Chairman.
Tel.01926 813240
There is an indoor show on Sunday 23 November where I am not proposing to organise a club stand though if anyone else is willing to volunteer please let me know.

The Bluebell Run

 Sunday 27 April 2008.

Alan Withey

This is version 2 of this announcement-please ignore any previous version you may have seen, it was just an illusion!

You are all invited to celebrate the arrival of spring with the Bluebell Run on Sunday 27 April 2008. The start is Beckett's Farm, Worcs., on the A435 near the M42 junction. Breakfast, coffee and snacks will be available - we'll meet at 10am for an 11am start. The run will be a leisurely drive through Bluebell Country along the leafy lanes of Warwickshire. We'll have lunch at the Kingsbury Water Park, where we'll visit the Etchells Wood Railway. Later, we'll amble down some more lanes to Hoar Park Craft Centre, Over Whitacre, for tea and farewells.

Contact Alan for a guide to the route on 0121 744 6414, or phone Steve O'Hara on 0121 708 2813

The Annual Anglian Road Run.

The event will be held over the May Day Weekend of 2008. The dates will be from Friday May 2nd to Monday May 5th.
We shall be based at Hunstanton in Norfolk for three nights and plan to visit a variety of places of interest including the Poppy Line Railway, Elgoods Brewery in Wisbech, joining up with other members living in the Lincolnshire and Norfolk area, a visit to Sheringham, and also to Heacham Lavender Fields.

This unhurried road run is planned in such a way that we stay together with as little modern traffic involvement as possible. Good quality B&B's are looked for and a different place to eat each evening to add variety.

An engine on the Poppy Line

You can join us at the starting point at Cambridge at 2pm, where we will pay a visit to the newly re opened Collectors World at Downham Market before continuing on to Hunstanton, or make your own way to Hunstanton at your own pace. Hunstanton is situated on the Wash, see the map below:

Please contact Ian Leggett if you need to know more on regalia@standardmotorclub.org.uk or Telephone 01284 850896.

A £30 deposit is required (refundable up to 28 days before the event)

West Midlands Rally 2008

The West Midlands Rally for 2008 is at the Sandwell Valley Country Park, West Bromwich, on the 13th, 14th & 15th June.

Although this park is situated on the edge of what was once called 'The Black Country' the visitor will be pleasantly surprised at how very green it is. There are 2000 acres of woodland, lakes and open farmland to explore, with the farm, shop and a cafe to visit - and all this in the heart of the West Midlands.

Camping is allowed, which is on a nice secluded part next to the area for our cars.

Entry forms and leaflet from Alan Withey, 0121 744 6414.

49th Annual Standard International Rally

27th - 29th June 2008

Charlecote Park, Warwickshire

published to coincide with the December Standard Car Review

Standard cars will be lined up along both sides of the main drive to the house

Set in an impressive Deer Park, Charlecote House forms the stunning backdrop for this year's International Rally. The event will start on Friday evening, but members can join at any time from then onwards up until Sunday lunch. On Friday there will be a short circular roadrun to a pub serving good barmeals, with excellent parking and lots of time to catch up with old friends, or to make new. On Saturday we will gather at Charlecote before setting off on a longer circular country run, over mainly unclassified roads, at a pace to suit all our cars. The destination will be a place of interest and lunch will be available. In the evening we have arranged for a buffet meal to be served in the Orangery at Charlecote House.

Discounted rooms are available at the "Charlecote Pheasant", adjacent to the park. Alternatively there are camping facilities close by, or bed and breakfasts in the Stratford, Leamington or Warwick areas.

Sunday as usual will be the main rally day, with the cars parked outside Charlecote House. The cars will gather along both sides of the main drive shown in the picture, in full view of the visitors to the house. There will be concours judging to identify the favourite cars. Members are invited to bring spares to sell or swap and other autojumblers will be invited to attend. There will be the opportunity to tour the House. There will be a raffle and later there will a prizegiving with a procession of the winning cars.

To enter the rally, please fill in and return the Entry form that can be downloaded from here. The form also contains a draft timetable and other information about the event.

We look forward to greeting you. You don't need a concours car to attend. The committee hope that you will make full use the opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts who like you are keen to keep the marque alive.

2008 Welsh Ralli

Monday  18th - Saturday 23rd August 2008

Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells.

This is a multimarque rally that has been running for close on 30 years. It's designed for people who like to use there cars, no standing about in damp Rally fields, and there is an emphasis on good food, wine and conversation. All Standards qualify and a number of Standard owners attend regularly. Last years rally was one of the very best, for we were blessed with wall to wall sunshine, completely empty roads and mountain passes, a string of interesting places to visit in mid Wales and the good company of friends and fellow enthusiasts. The rally was so successful that the venue will be repeated in 2008.

To enter, you need to book five nights accommodation (d,b&b) at the 120-room Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells. This is a 3 star venue with newly refurbished rooms, excellent food and a Leisure Centre. Mention the "Friends of Llangollen Rally" to qualify for their corporate rates. Then advise John or Rhiannon Howells on 01443 432542 of your intention to attend. Other accommodation options are available in the area.

I can not recommend this event highly enough to you. Lynda and I both thought this the motoring highlight of 2008, and we look forward to seeing you there. If you would like further information call us on 01727 868405
