Lynda
and I were returning from an assignment in deepest Devon in our modern
transport, but we decided to drop in on the Club's stand at Sherborne
Castle.
It
didn't seem like a wise move as the heavens opened as we queued to get
into the venue.
However,
we were warmly greeted by Club Members from a wide area. Not just the
local Bristol Group but also a contingent from Devon and Cornwall on
one of their frequent forays up-country. Also already there were Geoff
and Sharon Catermoul up from the New Forest area.
Fortunately
The group had brought along a Club Gazebo and initially at least we
were all forced to shelter in it. However the kettle always seemed to
be on, so everyone was well refreshed with copious volumes of coffee
and tea!
As
the weather improved during the morning, everyone managed to venture
out to inspect the large number of Club stands and attractions. Many
members took the opportunity to tour the Castle itself and declared it
most interesting though more of a stately home than a fortified
castle.
