Standard Car Sale generates £400 for Charities

Here is a letter from one of the charities to our chairman

Dear Mr Newsome

Thank you very much indeed for your donation cheque of £195 and cash collection of £9.40 resulting from the sale of the Standard 10 received from the estate of the late Mr Edwards.

Peter Lockley kindly delivered the cheque and cash to me and it was a great opportunity for my parents and me to catch up with him on family news - I am sure he has mentioned our family connection. I have emailed a couple of photos to Peter of him presenting the cheque.

It was a complete surprise to hear from Peter and I am very pleased that your club has been able to support DEBRA. Your donation will help fund the work our charity does in providing support to individuals and families living with EB.

DEBRA’s work includes providing extensive information on living with EB, funding specialist nursing services, making home visits, providing adapted holiday homes to enable families to have an affordable break, and investing in research to find better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for EB.

I would be pleased if you would pass on my thanks to everyone involved in making the vehicle saleable, to the members who bought it, and to the family of Mr Edwards if you are in contact with them.

I have enclosed a copy of our new leaflet, ‘More than skin deep’, which tells you a little about two of our young ambassadors, Mason and Maisy. I am happy to give talks about DEBRA and EB to companies and community organisations, so please feel free to pass on my details to anyone you know who would like to hear from DEBRA.
