Although summer is officially here, it certainly
wasn’t making an appearance at the Caerwys Car Show on 12th July.
This show historically has excellent weather and draws in hundreds of cars from
the surrounding area and beyond – however 2011 was to be the exception. The
day started cold and drizzly and then developed into a windy, horrible day that
culminated in torrential rain.

However despite the obvious reduced number of
vehicles generally at the show, the North Wales Group "braved the
storm" and fielded nine cars with three of them travelling from Liverpool
and one from Didsbury – a huge thank you to them for their commitment. The
cars on display were Standards Basic Eight, 10/12 Sports, Flying Eight Special
and Vanguard P3. In addition there were Triumphs Roadster and a pair of
Spitfires. together with two Morris Minors. The North Wales Group welcomed Mr
Eddie Farrell and his wife to the group in their absolutely stunning 1936
1.5ltr SS Jaguar. The car drew a considerable amount of attention and we look
forward to welcoming it back in the future . . . . hopefully in better
conditions!!.

Unfortunately two cars were
"poorly" including my Big Nine and the Triumph Stag of Vic Donnerley
. . . both better now though.
As the day progressed the
weather deteriorated and ended with everyone squashed under the gazebo trying
to stay dry and stopping it disappearing across the welsh countryside!. Sadly
the show was a "wash out" with many exhibitors leaving early –
including the North Wales Group.
Once again a big thank you to
all who attended with the ABCD mention going to Wally Aimers who travelled from
Liverpool ……….. and back in his Flying Eight Special without a roof ! . .
. bilge pump on board but NO ROOF!!!
