Flying 12 DHC
goes on its holidays - Part 9
We have now reached home
in St. Albans and I am working on my usual PC again. There are a
couple more days to report on at the end of our tour, so for
completeness I will finish them now.
My apologies to those of
you that have sent in interesting articles for publication here, there
is now somewhat of a backlog, but I will get round to publishing you
all just as soon as I finish the story of the Flying 12's holiday
excursion.
Day 16 - Llandrindod
Wells tour to Ledbury then to Brandon, Coventry
Saying goodbyes to
the friends we had made and acquaintances we had renewed, we set
off from the Metropole after breakfast, with the sun
shining for just the second day of the tour so far. Today would
be our longest journey and therefore biggest test on the car,
though we were well pleased with its performance so far.
Our route this
morning took us out of Wales via Hereford to Ledbury where we
had arranged to meet fellow Member John Worby who wished to
introduce us to a potential National Rally site. Meeting him at
noon, we were able to finish the business in an hour and then
John and Brenda invited us to a super lunch, which it would have
been churlish to refuse! Thanks, John and Brenda!
We then pointed
the Flying 12 at Tewkesbury, Evesham and following the A46 past
Stratford on Avon we arrived at Coventry in the early evening.
Our destination was the Brandon Hall Hotel in Brandon, just to
the East of the City.
Torrential rain
set in yet again that evening so we abandoned a plan to walk
into the village and eat in the hotel restaurant instead. The
diet starts next week!
Day 15
- 125 miles
Phil Homer.
