The current edition of Classic Car Weekly contains a two-page
feature article on the life of Sir John Black.
John Black joined Standard in 1929 becoming Joint Managing
Director in 1934. His rise thereafter as a leading industrialist
rapidly turned Standard into a major force in the British Motoring
Industry.
Increasingly autocratic and idiosyncratic in style, he was
finally ousted in a boardroom coup in early 1954
The feature, authored by Graham Robson, is well worth a read
