Can you identify this Standard Engine?

What is it?

Len Barr has sent me this photograph of a very early 4 Cylinder Standard Engine that he can not recognise. It lives in the Coventry Museum of Transport and is painted some garish colours. It may well be circa or pre the first world war period, it may even predate the oldest surviving Standard of 1907. In which case it would be very significant indeed.

The cylinders are cast in 2 separate blocks, the exhaust and inlet manifolds are separate and the side valves are operated by exposed rods.

If you know what it is, or have any information, please let the webmaster know.
