Standard 8 racing in Calcutta
This Photo has been sent to me by Gautam Sen in
India, asking me to identify the Standard in this race line up.
The Standard is a Post war Standard 8 Tourer. The term Flying Standard was not used Postwar. The car has no bonnet side louvres and larger doors than the prewar version
Do you know what the race was?
Thanks very much Phil!
The race was in Calcutta - there was regular
racing there during the 1950s and 1960s, actually till the 1970s, in
fact. Converted airstrips were used and through the winter months
they raced every other week. I wouldn't know exactly when the race
was but in all likelihood late 1950s.
Warm regards,
Gautam
